Asus wifi ap solo access point mode

In essence the AP has nowbecome a wireless adapter card. You would use this mode to allow anAP to communicate with another AP. If the modeis supported it will operate only with devices of the same series. However, be aware that most manufacturers use proprietarysettings when enabling bridging mode in the Access Point. A typicalscenario for this selection is connecting two buildings through awireless connection. If the mode is supported it will operate only withdevices of the same series.

Wireless clients will not communicate toAP's in this mode. Still no luck, it tells me the WIFI connection has "limited connectivity". Thanks much for looking at least! If I figure it out I'll post the solution. I am posting this from my nokia wirelessly thru wifi-ap solo!

The way I did it was to set up ICS on the lan connection, which set the wireless adapter to It turns out, this is necessary for ICS. You can tell by,turning it off then turning it back on again, it'll give you that error. I am sorted out, finally! Joined Sep 29, Messages 3. Grunchy, I have a similar problem with Wifi solo on my new Vista computer. I want to connect it to the Internet modem and give my old computer Internet access thru the wireless link.

Seems simple enough. However, the USB wireless adapter on the old system that can't seem to make a working connection even though it says the signal strength is excellent.

Which computer did you set up ICS on? How, exactly, did you set this up on Vista? I don't see this is a selectable option. You could help a whole lot of people who are having problems with Wifi Solo. Joined Oct 29, Messages 2. Grunchy if you could please quickly post a little more detail as to how you got this to work that would be fantastic. I to am using Vista right now and Asus Wifi AP Solo to attempt to get the Solo to act as an "access point" and transmit my internet connection wirelessly to our Wii downstairs..

I tried using the Asus Wifi AP Solo software and it seemed to set up everything properly but it doesn't work. The wii can SEE the "access point" but there is no connection to use.. Because I'm apparantly on the same settings as you are with no luck.. It's frustrating that the Wii can see the "access point" and still not use it's internet connection.. Don't waste your time and don't pay a dime extra for a mobo with this "feature" included. I bought a simple router several months ago that worked right away and have never looked back, except to cap off the antenna connection that was broadcasting to the neighborhood and shut WiFi down as best I could.

Well to be honest I DID get it to work.. Between Wifi software and windows Vista the whole this is a giant hastle.. I was pretty much ready to give up on it and then all of a sudden My Wii 2 floors down was getting internet access wirelessly.. I guess I did something right.. I think it worked soon after I set it up with decription and security passwords and stuff on the settings which I wasn't using for a long time.. I don't know.. The choice is yours.. Grunchy said:. Did you manually specify an IP address that was in the correct subnet for your main router when switching to access point mode? Here's a bit more info on my setup. I have a Virgin Media Superhub from my service provider modem mode only , i have connected to that a Linksys EA which deals with all the wireless signals and am using an Asus RTU as a access point downstairs connected to the Linksys via a super long Ethernet cable.

If im using the official FW from Asus on this router i have no issue connecting to it, just when i have the Padavan FW installed it just seems to 'disappear' as soon as AP mode is enabled. Linksys' subnet is where it would need to be if it's providing the bulk of the communication for your network. And when set properly, I've seen no problems accessing the admin panel while using padavan's version in ap mode.

Just use the IP address you specify in the settings normally. Web page will now refresh. Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N56U. How am i supposed to know what the updated IP address and port number is, as it doesnt tell me what its changed it to?. Its not the static ip address i have set before enabling the AP mode as i have tried that and cant connect.

Am using the DLNA version and don't seem to have this issue. Afterwards change it to AP. Enable SSH too just in case so you can further do some debugs.
